A local move is any move that begins and ends within a radius of approximately 50 miles, whereas an Intrastate move is any move loaded and delivered within the state. In order for a moving company to perform a move within the State of Florida, the mover must be licensed by the State of Florida, Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. RAY THE MOVER believes strongly in these regulations and has the distinction of possessing Registration No: IM0002; being the 2nd company in the state to be registered. For a move between two different states, the mover needs to be licensed by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
It is important when choosing a mover to verify that the mover is licensed within the state you are moving. If your mover is licensed, it will mean that your mover has filed his workman's compensation, liability, & cargo insurance information with the state authorities.

Pricing
Moving services can be very costly. Regardless of the cost of your move it is very important that you understand what you are paying for. In a normal move, the charges will be broken into four (4) different components, as follows:
Moving
Moving costs are based on our estimation of the labor required to safely facilitate your relocation and is charged based on a GUARANTEED COST. (Please note that the State of Florida requires a written Cost of Services be presented to the customer on each move and that the price be guaranteed. If a mover only gives you a price over the phone or does not provide a written guaranteed price…beware! They are breaking the law!!)
Travel Time
The time it takes our truck to reach your home at the beginning of the local move and the time it takes to return to the warehouse after the move is completed (this is not applicable on intrastate moves).
Packing Materials and Packing Labor
In order to perform your move in a professional manner, specific materials are needed to protect your household goods during handling and transport.
Valuation Coverage
Moving companies are required by law to provide customers with valuation coverage at no additional cost. This type of valuation coverage is termed “sixty cents per pound per article” and is based upon weight of the transported item. This will most likely not cover actual value of an item damaged or lost during a move. You can supplement the coverage by purchasing additional coverage.
